How to Put on a Pencil Skirt — the Golden Rules

1. Choose the Right Length

pencil-skirts

You can generally find pencil skirts in three lengths:

  1. Over the knee, by about two full thumbs’ value
  2. At the knee
  3. Below the knee, by about two complete thumbs’ value (a shortish midi length)

The right length for your legs:

A pencil skirt will draw attention to the bottom-hem and up from there. The knee-length midi is the most flattering, because that the aspect of the leg. Try this if you’d like a more strategy:

  1. Take a measuring tape into your shins (middle of knee cap to ankle bone) and note the amount.
  2. Switch instructions and measure from mid knee cap to your hip hone.
  3. Subtract the smaller number from the number.
  4. Divide that result by 2.

The number in Step # 4 will be your height above your knee that your skirt should strike, if your shins are shorter than your thighs. Drop the number length, In case your shins are more than your thighs.

The Ideal length for your occasion:

One thing may be said by your leg measurements, but the occasion plays a role too. As an example, you probably won’t wear a pencil skirt to a work function. Maintain these pencil skirt tips in mind:

  • For Work: At knee or below the knee
  • For Dates: Above the knee
  • For Church: At knee or below the knee
  • Over 50: In the knee or below the knee

2. Know Your Shape

Pencil Colours on those people who are bottom heavy often pull across the middle (from one side of the hip to the other), inducing an unslightly”whiskering/wrinkle” effect.  Purchase the skirt one size bigger, if you’re got a bit extra in the hip area and get it tailored to your entire body.

3. Focus on Your Negative View

Many men and women pay attention to the way pencil skirts look from front- in the event that you have a pouch or a stomach, which can be deceiving. When trying on pencil tops, ALWAYS TURN TO THE SIDE, and see exactly what the skirt looks like from the side view. Consider buying a size larger, if you notice a pouch and get it tailored and/or make certain that you wear a body shaper with the skirt.

4. Petite? Tuck it in. Tall? Leave It Out

If you’re petite, then tucking the top will make your legs look. If you are tall, leaving out the top will create your chest look. The very same rules apply to those who have long torsos (tuck it into make a midline midsection ) or shorter torsos (where it out to make a more waist, thus extending your top portion).

5. Go For Shade
