3 Indie Nail Polishes Worth Your Own Dinero

I Am into nail polish How Juliet was into Romeo. Give me polish or allow me to die. If someone took away my best to paint claws Alright, so perhaps I wouldn’t kill myself, but I’d be exceedingly irritable.

The nail polishes that were mass-produced somewhat exhausted me. Do not get me wrong — I really do have a few favorites. However, there’s something about the quirkiness of a different, non-mainstream nail polish (fit hipster nail painter joke here) that really gets my creative juices flowing. The Cover Band Sticks and Stones polish is just one of my favourite favorites.

I’m reviewing three newish, up-and-coming nail polish brands that have made my seal of acceptance today. I’ve also included nail designs made with the polishes along with brief how-to guides to follow the testimonials.

Indie Nail Polishes Review

Floss Gloss, $8 each

If you’re searching for funky and new then Floss Gloss is your go-to blossom source. They’re based in San Fran and the colours are just to die for. I am talking hip, bold, not-your-chain-store-colors. For instance, neon nacho is the specific same colour as cheese whiz (a matte, super-glowy orange), Stun is an ultra brassy chunky holographic gold blossom that would make Beyonce covetous, and Wavepool (pictured here) is a retro-cool more-blue-than-mint colour that I can’t get enough of.

Get the appearance : Employ Sally Hansen’s Golden-1 polish to all of your nails. Using a paintbrush that is thin, make three v’s using all the Wavepool on four claws and a center on the accent finger.

Polish & Co., $12 per

Every one of Polish & Co.’s nail polishes is great enough to eat. Believe Marie Antoinette meets school bubblegum Britney. The 12 per bottle price tag can throw you for a budgetnista loop, but you get a decent.5 oz supply that’ll last for a while. And locating colors similar (for less dinero) is a mission not even Christopher Columbus would take. The 3 colors I tried (Any Position Any Time, Mint to Tell You and Get Over it) are all dried medium-matte and super sour. One coat is enough and pooling or streaking is no problem.

Get the appearance : Apply Any Position Any opportunity to complete nail and let dry. Using a steady hand and paint brush (or striping tape), create a triangle at the floor together with Mint to Tell You. I had been craving glitter, therefore I utilized Floss Gloss’s Dimepiece (a holographic silver glitter) for the accent nail along with the top halves. Employing a striping instrument, paint lines to create an argyle design.

Windestine, $7 Each

Windestine began selling nail polish on Etsy in May of 2011. Ever since then, the storemoved on to Big Cartel and’s amassed. The specialty of windestine? Glitter. Beautiful, glorious, make-your-jaw-drop glitter that’ll have everyone you understand swooning. I call a glitter explosion that is happy so hop on the bandwagon prior to the polishes start selling from stock.

Get the appearance : Create a black to white gradient (simple tutorial here). Paint the part with Windestine’s Asbestos glitter nail polish and the area with their Carbon Copy gloss. Voila: nails that are static-y.
