News: Project Runway Dress at JCPenney for $40

Thursday on Season 16 of Project Runway, the contestants were challenged with developing a fashionable style for girls. The winning design is currently available for $39.99 at JCPenney.com, and in select stores.

The men’s button-up apparel shirt, inspired the design, seen below. Its utilitarian daily design offers elegance.  Margarita Alvarez, the designer, desired to give a contemporary spin and undo the concept by building a top dress with closures and intricate draping that seems polished and simple.

My Take

My take? I really like this dress’ form. It’s interesting without being weird, and it looks to be very flattering with this fitted waistline. For $40, it’s a steal.

Now, would I feel weird wearing this dress out someplace? Maybe, depending on the audience. I would not wear it into a style blogger’s convention, for fear of being requested every 2 minutes,”Is that the Project Runway dress?” But I would wear it out to a work function with my hubby or to dinner.
