Dress for the Day is all about streetstyle. Tell me about the Dress for the Day customer. Who is she and how does she use Dress for the Day?

The DFTD customer could be anyone! Make choices and everyone should get dressed. We have occasions and different events in life; make sure it function, wedding, a holiday or a ball-game. Thus, DFTD makes lifestyle quick and easy by supplying instant fashion inspiration for your everyday man and the everyday girl.

It is super easy to use. You select your event and personal style by the drop-downs, and streetstyle appears will populate based on your own selections as well as the weather (your situated is already factored in!) . It is possible to either emulate the appearance. Or, you can store the look head based on your financial plan. We hand-curate pieces from our partners, which span from the major fashion houses and brands to new and emerging designers. Additionally, the program has added features like a style forum and calendar!

What did you do before you started Dress for the Day?

Before starting DFTD, I practiced law. I had been in-house counsel in a music publishing company, representing that the kings and queens of the jazz age (Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Perry Como).

How did you come to know you would begin this company — did you have an ah-ha instant or was it gradual than that?

My co-founder and I had been out to dinner, catching up following years, when the ah-ha moment happened. We knew there was. A very simple tool, that answered the everyday question of”what can I use?” We and their friends needed it and it, respectively. So, it was assembled by us! Well, it was not as simple as that, of course. It took weeks of designing, analyzing our MVP (minimum viable merchandise ), studying and finding the perfect technician before we were prepared to start.

The Films on Dress for the Day are curated, correct? Can you state the outfits reflect your own style?

Yes, each and every outfit we attribute is hand-curated by our staff (no robots or applications!) . Each streetstyle reflects a variety of personal styles, from classic to contemporary to casual to edgy to over-the-top. I will absolutely say that I would wear every ensemble on DFTD!

The models in your site look to be regular women. Have you got your own models?

Each streetstyle comes from the man or lady. They are either submitting their photo or we’re out on the roads currently scouting women and men. So, we do not use any’models’ per se.

Who is your style icon and why?

It is a link between Amal Clooney and Mary Kate Olsen. Because flowery dresses and chokers trend the first time in the 90s, mary Kate was a style inspiration for me! Her style is inconsistent, unique and makes a statement. She is not afraid to color outside of the lines and I really like that. Amal’s style is conservative, but demands an quantity of category confidence and badass-ness. Her job wardrobe is feminine yet powerful and her weekend athleisure wear is always on trend.

Would you consider yourself a fashion character? Why or why?

I believe that it’s important not to let fashion to specify the individual. Rather, one’s personality and personality should define his or her fashion choices. I don’t discriminate when it comes to fashion and definitely try my best to practice this philosophy. My personal style can vary from day to day and that I love mixing and matching pieces across all price points. I think that it’s safe to say that I have a fashion personality!

What is your go-to style for a weekend day of shopping? An evening out with the girls?

For a weekend day of shopping, you can locate me in my Givency Mini Antigona satchel, a cozy blouse gown from Zara and Adidas Stan Smith shoes. For a night out with my grandparents, I will maintain Rag and Bone flared an off-the-shoulder blouse, Stuart Weitzman Nudist Sandals along with jeans out of Asos.

Tell me about your style series with Sports Illustrated.

Sports Style Swipe is a superb exciting new electronic fashion series I co-host on Sports Illustrated.com. It’s basically Tinder for fashion and sports. We review the style hits and misses from the sphere of professional sports. We also discuss trends and style information .

Which professional would you believe has the greatest overall fashion sense? The worst?

I love Russell Westbrook’s daring sense of style. He actually treats the hallways that lead as his runway to the basketball court and I can’t get enough. He’s dresses, trendy and edgy like nobody is watching.

In terms of the worst, well everybody has capacity to enhance — so I can’t name a worst!

How powerful is the relationship between sports and men’s fashion? I have definitely seen a rise over the last few years of people — the masses — talking about the fashion of men? Have you ever noticed the same? Do you feel is?

The fashion scene in the sport world is bursting in the best way possible. Men in general have a greater interest in vogue than ever before (the first Men’s Fashion Week took place earlier this year) and that is carrying over to athletes (that the NBA All-Star Fashion Show premiered annually ).

I think social media has had a substantial effect in making players more cognizant of their outfit options. They know they’re likely to be photographed before the game (entering the scene ) and afterwards (press conferences) and this is their opportunity to express their own style, since they’re from the uniforms. Long gone are the times when they would walk around in sweats and a t-shirt (unless they are luxury cashmere joggers and a vintage distressed tee). It’s about fierce textures and luxury designers such as Saint Laurent and Louboutin and patterns.

We only get to see a glimpse of athletes’ personalities, since the focus is on their skill. Now, however, we are able to appreciate their creativity since they strut their fashion game off the court. Additionally, it’s important to note that fashion collaborations between athletes and retailers/designers are growing. Russell Westbrook and Kam Chancellor has a line with Barney’s New York and an exciting cooperation with custom-shoe designer, Sundry & Awl, respectively.

Let us wrap up with this. Do you have any words of wisdom you can share for the girls who is uncertain of her own fashion sense and personal style?

That is easy. There is no better fashion accessory than confidence.
