Don’t Have a Valentine? Here Are Six Presents to Buy Yourself
February brings many things- New York’s Fashion Week, red carpet fashion faux pas, Ceelo in a red sequin suit on NBC’s “The Voice”, and, yes, Valentine’s Day. The “holiday,” which, if we’re being honest, was totally created by the greeting card industry, doesn’t have to be total downer for those who are unattached. In fact, I think you should celebrate it even more by buying yourself a special gift. We’ve got some ideas for you below.
Six Valentine’s Day Gifts to Buy For Yourself
1. A Fabulous Cocktail Ring
Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you can’t bling out it. Buy yourself a fabulous cocktail ring (like the Kevia Ring shown above from Bluefly) for well under $100 or, if you’ve got it like that, go for the real deal from a store like Blue Nile. Unlike you’re attached friends, you get to pick the ring you want without having to deal with someone else’s feelings.
2. A Plant
You know the person sitting next to you who got the amazing bouquet from her boyfriend/husband/partner that she just happened to let it sit at the front desk for all to see? Well, pity her because her flowers ( and possibly her relationship) are going to be dead in a week. And while her flowers are in the office garbage can, you’ll be watering your lovely plant . My advice is to get a rubber plant or something that doesn’t need a lot of attention (unlike your office mate).
3. Massage
Buy the touch you want (ok, that sound s a little suggestive, but you know what I mean). Get a proper massage from someone who knows what they’re doing and feel sorry for your friends who have to pretend to enjoy the massage their significant others are giving them,
4. A Puppy or Kitten
Puppies and kittens are cute, fuzzy, and don’t care if you haven’t shaved your legs since Simon left Idol. They don’t judge the fact that you spend four hours at the mall (and idn’t buy a thing )and you’re not required to display the “handmade” tissue cosy made by their Aunt Edna. And, as a rule, puppies and kittens love Oprah and Project Runway, which makes them the perfect companions. Show even more love by adopting your pet from the local Humane Society.
5. Trapeze Lessons
You know you’re going to get asked what you’re doing for V-day; people just can’t resist, and the best way to answer is with something so interestingly shocking that they have no response- like you’re spending V-day taking trapeze lessons. Personally, I think nothing celebrates the love you feel for yourself than flying through the air hanging from a bar.
6. The Valentine’s Day Movie
(We’re not going to show the movie poster twice)
This movie is so bad, that’s it’s good. I guarantee it will give you a much needed laugh. Why? Two words: Ashton Kutcher. & Relationships Discuss.
