Flashback Fashion Friday: The Rise of This Tunic

Way back in 2005, the tunic emerged as spring’s”must-have slice .” And why not? After the plants of the’90s, many people were happy to see the spotlight is taken by a flow-y silhouette.

Tunics at 2005

If you do not remember tunics being the hot new item 12 years ago, here is a quick refresher in the kind of an Old Navy commercial.

Clicking on the image opens up a new window on AdLand.tv, where you are able to watch the whole commercial.

Any garment a whole industrial about is made by Old Navy is pretty much everything, to everybody. And you knew that every Old Navy store would be chockfull of the fashion, in every color of the rainbow.

Back then, Budget Fashionista known as Old Navy’s long-top obsession”over-commercialization of a fashion.” Maybe we’ve developed more conducive with age, but that characterization seems somewhat harsh now.

All things considered, we really do love our tunics. If Old Navy bet on the design is the reason it’s still a closet staple now, then all is forgiven.

Fast-foward to 2017

A dictionary might inform you the tunic is a sleeveless piece that was popular in Ancient Greece. But in the world of style a lady is. Tunics arrive in all types of fabrics and styles–buttonless or buttoned and with ruffles, chilly shoulders side splits, and on and on.

On Styling Tunics

Tunics are easy to style. The only mistake you may make is pairing it with pieces which are too baggy, if you’ve got one that fits you properly. Here are a few suggestions that’ll concentrate your style sense.

Runway model wearing long top over loose pants.

Models can eliminate baggy on top of baggy. Us normal men and women? Not so much.

Do wear tunics with skinny pants. If you would like to pair tunics with another kind of garment, then keep an eye on the balance of your outfit. A top with boyfriend jeans, as an instance, puts you in danger of looking sloppy. Same is true for wearing a tunic.

Do try out tunics using a pencil skirt. This works great when the tunic is on the shorter side, so the skirt does not look to be overtaken by your top.

Do experimentation with different shoes. The right pair of kicks will depend on the tunic’s material. I adore a tunic with pumps and skinny pants. But that is assuming the tunic is maybe utter and lighter weight. On the other hand, a cotton tunic might seem perfect.

Do include a blazer, moto jacket or possibly a tidy bomber. Tunics can feel overly tight and lacking structure. That’s easily mended with outerwear. Avoid cardigans cardigans, since they may add bulk.

Do insert a belt.  Get another look from precisely the same top by simply including a belt.
