Guide to Being Unmarried on Valentines Day

You know V day is right around the corner when the supermarket starts stocking up on balloon bouquets and roses. In this woman’s honest opinion, Valentine’s Day is SO overblown and commercialized that it is ignored by many combined friends. It’s my single buddies who get serious about Valentines Day–and not in a fantastic way. If you turn into a wine-guzzling, sweatpants-wearing hermit, to being single on Valentines Day, then this manual is to you.

Tips for Surviving Single on Valentines Day

1. Know What V-Day Dates Are Truly Like

Valentines Day is a holiday best celebrated by rookie couples that are gaga in love. If you have been there recently, you might remember being consumed along with your newfound sweetie and speaking about it all of the time. V-day is ideal for that point of a connection, because the vacation is about over-the-top displays of affection.

But many couples that are established espouse Valentine’s Day, and for good reason.

First the impulse to express your love may have died down a little.

Secondly, goes on Valentine’s day stink. The food is overpriced, the restaurant is crowded and there is a higher likelihood that your car’s coming back from the valet with door dings.

Single women, be thankful you are not satisfied by expectations for perfection.

2.  Rally the Troops

Get your girlfriends together and plan a trip or an all-day activity. Just be sure to set the rules ahead of time. No downer conversation! It be about him to discuss something embarrassing, if a person’s going to talk about an ex-boyfriend. Lamenting the good times with an old flame is off limits.

3. Get Competitive

Exercise can get you out of a rut like nothing else. And getting yourself signed up for aggressive exercise almost forces you to commit. Volunteer to play at a softball match, arrange a streak or arrange a game. All these activities, of course, should definitely be followed by a trip to the sports bar.

Peruse the local coffee shop for teams requiring gamers, if you don’t live near buddies. Or, sign up to get a digital 5K walk.

4. Go to some Full-Service Movie Theater

The movie theater is another fantastic option for girls on Valentines Day. The only rule here is that comedies are not allowed.  This year, opt for The Way to Be Single. You be surrounded by additional single people in the theater.

The choice of venue is important. I’d recommend a full size theater that provides drink and food services. What’s more indulgent than sliding into a big puffy recliner and then pushing a button?

5. Get Skilled

Consider expressing your creative side, if you’re not into sports. Proceed to a pottery studio or a poetry jam with buddies. Or reorganize your music collection and create new themed playlists or even mashups. Or make a scrapbook. The opportunities here are endless.

6.  Read About Successful, Funny Women

Women do amazing things (without men) everyday. If you feel that the blues the fix is a YouTube hunt away. Get motivated by powerful female comedians such as Kate McKinnon, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler and Amy Poehler. Watch their clips and you’ll see that laughter is really good for you.

You ought to pamper yourself regularly, but there is no shame in having a little extra”you time” about Valentines Day. I say go big and treat your own nails, body and face.
