How to Shop TJ Maxx
For some,”off price” stores like TJ Maxx are a mecca of bargains, with hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered. For others, the shop, with it endless stands and diverse mixture of products is too frightening to even tackle.
We’d hate for anyone to miss out on great bargains (remember, TJ Maxx sells name brand and designer goods at discount prices) so we’ve got some tips to help you shop the shop to your own greatest advantage:
How to Shop TJ Maxx
1. Don’t be concerned about irregular items. Over 95 percent of TJ Maxx’s merchandise is first quality, meaning less than 5 percent is”irregular” — and people are not exactly what you think. They’re not defective items, but rather items with irregularities unnoticeable to the customer (like a producer cranked out an arrangement of pumps in patent instead of regular leather… )
2. Go in with an open mind. Since TJ Maxx buyers practice opportunistic buying (meaning they get the best prices from sellers each time they come up) you can’t count on the store having that Little Black Dress at any given time. Rather, have an of what general kinds of items you may have to reinforce your apparel (or residence, or whatever department you are shopping) and look in those sections for the bargains that suit you. Also remember that even though you won’t see designer titles on advertisements, that doesn’t mean you won’t find them — away cost stores such as TJ Maxx can not utilize designers names within their advertisements, but we can assure you a recent visit turned up things by Theory, Ralph Lauren, and Vera Wang.
3. Expect to locate new items right up to the holidays — and any other time of the year. If you shopping TJ Maxx earlier in the summer and did not find what you were searching for, do not presume they won’t have it today. TJ Maxx buys year-round rather than seasonally, and are still purchasing for stores for Christmas, by way of example, into early December (meaning that they might have more up-to-date products compared to the department stores).
4. Search for markdowns on Wednesdays. TJ Maxx generally performs markdowns on Wednesdays (although this can differ from store to store). Trucks arrive 3-5 days a week, meaning the selection changes regularly.
5. Be self sufficient. While we are sure the workers of TJ Maxx are friendly and considerate, don’t anticipate a lot of help on the floor — the store is primarily a self-navigating encounter. That’s not to mention no one will help you — just don’t expect a personal shopper in your elbow.
6. Walk the Runway
To rev up its high-end designer company, T.J. Maxx added a”Runway” to 80 of its stores. People will really enjoy the convenience of having them all. Because prices aren’t always discounted as much as you’d 21, it really pays to be a savvy shopper. We’ve seen Miu Miu things a few seasons old. Lately, we have declared a Catherine Malandrino crochet apparel for $149.99 (initially $375), a Theory sexy pink asymmetrical cocktail dress for $129.99 (initially $415), and premium denim from Joe’s to JBrand for $59.99 to $79.99. The best prices are available on clearance like a navy Moschino jersey dress for $79.99, which might instigate a hanger conflict with another shopper. Since we’ve seen tags such as Velvet do not get fixated on the designer department.
7. Eye for accessories
The handbags, arranged by color, offer a candy-store like adventure. There are multiples of several styles including choices from Jessica Simpson for $49.99 (initially $98) and Tommy Hilfiger emblem bags for $29.99. Tucked into those, you might encounter rare find — we watched that a Marc Jacobs lace bag for $119.99 (originally $395), which wasn’t practical, but it was pretty. While the shoe selection is usually better at Marshalls, there are generally size runs in mainstream manufacturers such as Nine West boots for $79.99 (originally $120). Look for enlarged jewelry offerings, including 14 karat gold, sterling silver and semi-precious stones.
