Pardon My French: 2 Shops with Sh&*ty Return Policies
I admit that I’m a compulsive returner. As we all know, stores utilize trick light and deceptive mirrors (damn you, Forever 21!) To make us think we look in items than we really do. The result? Well, once we get home, the truth comes out, and it’s often not pretty (in my situation, it seems like a muffin top magically seems that wasn’t there when I had been in the shop ). So we return to the store to return things .
Now, many stores (Nordstrom and Target come to mind) offer simple and simple return policies, which allow you to return online purchases in-store, and have extended yield periods (some provided a year, in the case of Zappos).
Then there’s the ones with pretty sh*tty return policies. We emphasize two particularly messed-up policies below:
Stores using Pretty Bad Return Policies
Permanently 21— You know the expression”You break it, you own it?” Well, at 21, it is”You buy it, you have it” You can only EXCHANGE product, when you purchase in-store, and you may only do trades within 14 days of purchase. The exception is purchasing online, where you are able to return the product within 30 days of the delivery date (so actually, three weeks). My information is, unless you need it NOW, purchase it on line so you have the choice.
Eloquii— The name is dreadful. It’s the store brought to you by the people at The Limited, which has some cute looks. On the other hand, the return policy is ridiculous for a store that’s ONLY available online. Returns must be made”within 15 days of the original delivery date,” which is cray-cray, since, if you have it shipped via ground shipping, it may take up to 10 business days to arrive, meaning you only have between five and 10 days to return a product. Additionally, the return isn’t based on when you shipped it (your postmark date), however when they receive it. They will need to receive it back in 15 days (not business days) of sending it to you. For any items returned or exchanged after 15 days, you will be charged $5.95 per package, which, again, makes no sense. Needless to say, I do not shop there anymore.
