The Elastic Waistband Reinvented — & How to Wear It
The term’waistband’ always makes me think of shapeless denim pants you may see your mad aunt. There’s nothing wrong with those baggy trousers, but they’re definitely intended for simplicity and function, rather than style.
But times they are a-changing, and the elastic waistband is in the middle of a reinvention. We are now seeing the cozy, waist-cincher on dresses, dresses, trousers and even tops — and this version is way cooler than any elastic waistband of generations past. Better still, the style profile doesn’t eliminate the sheer convenience of wearing clothes. You can still pull your garments of getting caught in a zipper without fear and, heck, you do have to locate a coordinating belt.
Still not convinced? I have shopped the waistband for you, and here are my top 10 picks.

Statement Waist Skirt
Elastic Waist Skirt, $59.99, Mango
This skirt’s waistline includes a paper bag look for this, which you are able to play a simple, tucked-in shirt — a soft, feminine t-shirt could do. I’d stay away from statement sleeves like those the model is wearing. They’re super busy, and the skirt’s waist detail gets lost in all that ruffle.
