The First Flash Sale is Back (Sponsored)

I’ve heard it said that Madonna paved the way for Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson paved the way for Diddy. But musicians do not have a corner on trail blazing. Remember the Palm Pilot? It was a clear predisposition to the smartphone. And then there is that the Kmart Blue Light Special. That, my fellow fashionistas, was that the flash sale.

The Bluelight Special added a surprise component to shopping. You’d be browsing little kitchen appliances or bathroom towels, and that iconic phrase would ring out,”Attention Kmart shoppers!” Even if you did not hear the statement, you understand there was a in-store deal nearby and’d notice the flashing light.

Given that I’ve fond memories of this Bluelight Special, you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that Kmart’s bringing the first flash sale back!

The Bluelight Special Returns

The Bluelight Special’s return means more opportunities to find great deals at Kmart stores, Kmart.com and at the Kmart program. The term is that Bluelight Specials are currently occurring daily in every shop, across products and all categories. I wanted to test it out for myself, so I took a trip to Kmart in hopes that I’d hear that announcement that was familiar. I downloaded the Kmart program and enabled location providers and push alarms, to make sure I did not skip a beat. 

My Search for the Bluelight

I made my way to my Kmart, a Big K not, to determine if I could catch the Bluelight in action. I quickly got distracted by the specials, like a stand of cardigans marked down 35%.

I wound up with this textured cardigan in black for about $16. It’s super-warm and adjustments into AW bits.

I went on the search for scarves — another transition bit that assists me wear from the colder months after I grabbed a cardigan.

Additionally, I ended up with one of these neutral toned infinity scarves for $7.99.

I had been in the shop for approximately half an hour and I, unfortunately, did not get to hear that Bluelight special announcement. The fantastic news is that I ended up using a couple great bargains.

Other Kmart Store Events

The Bluelight Special is not the only enjoyable thing occurring in Kmart stores. Head to Kmart on the weekend for Freebie Saturdays, along with your kids aged 12 and under will get a free gift (like popcorn, apple juice or a toy) while supplies last. Throughout the holidays, you might encounter Santa Claus. Kmart is a destination, for sure — but it could be a fun stop for your little ones too.
