The Make-up Trend that’s Gone Mainstream
Claws and halo eyebrows are all. But cosmetics that’s made without harming animals? It these days, you find vegan beauty products and can research brands.
Cruelty-Free and Vegan Make-up Defined
The definitions of cruelty-free and vegetarian since they pertain to beauty products are covered extensively by other bloggers (see links to Cruelty-Free Kitty and Logical Harmony below). So, I’ll keep things short and simple .
Cruelty-free brands don’t test their formulations on creatures, period. There are a few layers to this. First and most obviously, the last product is not tested on animals. And the product does not contain.
Take a look at the brand directories assemble by Cruelty-Free Kitty, your favorite bloggers and Terrible Harmony to gage the animal-friendliness of your beauty manufacturers. This is the way I learned that NYX Cosmetics is cruelty-free, even though the parent company is not. Other manufacturers that I’ve used in the past are on the bad list. Bunny is currently Leaping, a company established way back in the’90s to make it a lot more easy for us shoppers to spot brands.
Vegan cosmetics products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. Lactic acid and beeswax are examples of ingredients widely used in beauty products and cosmetics. There are lots of more. To look at your cosmetics tags for animal-friendliness, see PETA collection of all animal-derived ingredients.
Be aware that any product can be cruelty-free, but not vegan, and vice versa. Veganism is another story, although Additionally, brands typically have a stand on animal testing. A product or brand line may have other products and some vegan products.
