The Way to Employ Skinny Jeans: Should You re Petite

Skinny jeans can be a terrific asset for petite girls, because while we encourage our vertically-challenged sistas (Angela is one of these — holla!) We know looking thinner and more is never a bad thing. In addition, we know that being petite does not necessarily mean becoming a twig. For fashionistas, the style challenges are ratio and matched, and skinny jeans are no exception. Here’s our hints for Petite Fashionista’s who want to rock the skinny jean look.

Balance your body.

Skinny Jeans Petite

If you are under 21 and/or version thin, tight from top to bottom can do the job for you — but for the rest of us, we need just a little leeway. A good rule of thumb is to balance a skinny bottom with a structured top, but petite girls should bypass the tunic/caftan/muumuu — unless you want to seem like Lucille Ball carrying Little Ricky under those tents that passed for maternity wear at the 1950s (if you are under 35, look it up). Think slub t-shirt, coat that is structured, or a hip-skimming top that is belted to highlight your waist and make length at precisely the same time.

Watch the span.

With any jean style, span is essential to looking put together. If your skinny jeans bunch up around your knees or are currently threatening to engulf your stilettos altogether, you are bound to wind up looking both shorter than you cluttered and, well want to. Invest a few bucks with your trusted tailor or local seamstress, if you discover a pair of jeans that fits everywhere but the span.

Heels are a (petite) girl’s best friend.

Floral heels

While a few small petite girls can get away with wearing a set of jeans with a tank top and some ballet flats, many people need a tiny span in the leg space to avoid looking stubby. And what’s wrong with another reason to put on a set of heels, like these stilettos from Forever 21? Not a thing.
