The Way to Indulge Without Actually Indulging

Growing up, I had a very best friend whose mom wore an apron that read”If the going gets tough, the tough go shopping”. Her joie de vivre, scrolled sweetly across her chest in sexy pink script, gracefully carried her across the kitchen from refrigerator to stove to table. Thinking back into the mother and her announcement of my bestie, I could kind of relate. Why not indulge in a little retail therapy when matters get out of whack? It’s productive. It is healing.

And let’s not overlook. Even an uninterrupted eight hours of sleep can not compare to that! Oh, and there’s also the rush. Surea four- (or in my case, one-) mile run will probably provide a similar endorphin release, but there is no gold-button swing jacket at the finish! A girl on a budget may indulge in a to place her disposition right. Go ahead and get your buying on!

Just pay head to the hints:

Indulge in Retail Remedy…But Not Too Much!

Pay It Forward
so that it has been one of these days. Lost your mobile phone. The dry cleaner shut until tomorrow’s outfit could be rescued by you. And between the television, the children and the puppy that is barking, there is enough sound. Don’t rush into the mall! Figure out how much you can afford to spend. Then bring cash. No credit. No debit. Only the ol’ green to get you moving. Once the money is spent, the treatment session has concluded. Finito. All impulse purchases are kept within budget.

It’s The Small Things
Let us turn our attention to the small things in life that bring happiness. A friendly gesture. A shared laugh. And the perfect lipstick.  I have got. It doesn’t matter what she’s wearing. My attention goes to her smile, styled by this lipstick. When you are feeling a bit down and out, go find. Browse through Sephora and experimentation . Get it, when you’ve found the one! Had? Get a manicure.

Window-Shop, Then Drop (The Cash!)
I’m not a window-shopper. When a new set of buckle boots calls my name there’s no room for hesitation. I am inside that shop, said pair of boots in hand, way before the doorbell has completed its own ring. Try yourself. Check out all the windows of your favorite stores. Every time a color-blocked sweater (or some other fabulous find) grabs your eye, get in there and try it ! Ask the sales girl to hold it, please if it merits estate on your cupboard! Continue onto another shop. Repeat your extravaganza. When the time has run out, go back and buy. When there’s more than 1 thing, heads-or-tails it for final selection.

Beg, Borrow, But Don’t Steal
With this strategy, you have the pleasure of your buddy’s company AND her closet! Visit if she’s got any gems in her wardrobe she wears, or could loan you for a brief period of 37, one of those women to find out. Oddly enough, my posse all wear the same size (don’t even get me started on the psychology behind this) so sharing clothing is a breeze. Worry not, if your friend does not wear the same dimensions. Welcome into the world of accessories! You never know, her traditional town disco clutch may be what the doctor prescribed!
