The Way to Make Flat Shoes Comfortable
Dear Budget Fashionista,
Here is my dilemma: I adore flats, they’re versatile and so cute, but it is difficult for me to find brand and a design that doesn’t torture my toes. Almost all of the flats that I’ve attempted dig in the very top of my feet or rub my ankle raw. They weren’t any better than some of the brands, although I have tried the brands that were expensive. Are there any solutions for this problem?
Answer: There are a couple of things you may try to make your apartments more comfy. In case you have a high foot arch (which might be the reason the shoes are rubbing in your feet), you may want to try inserts that add a bit more cushion and support to your arch. To be able to stop the rubbing go to Target or Payless and then purchase a pair of heel pads and stick them in the heel of the shoes. You can also have a cobbler/shoe fix person stretch the front part of the shoe (called the shoe box) to make a bit more room for your toes. This tip works with leather and suede.
It may also be an problem of support- many flat shoes (like the more expensive brands) are extremely flat, challenging, and supply no insoles what so ever. Feel that the inside of the shoe make certain that the footbed has padding Prior to purchasing a set of flat. Also check to be certain that the shoe has arch support (it will be a little”bump” of cushioned where the instep of your foot will be).
