You Ask, We Answer Formal Short Hairstyles
From Reader Lauren O:
Do you have some ideas for formal short hairstyles? I read (& loved) your How-To Dress for a Formal Event, but you did not say anything about how to do short hair. I have a bob, parted on the side . I purchased a to go with my green dress from David’s Bridal, on how to design my own hair but I’m stuck. I’ll be playing the flute in an orchestra at the event, which was part of the reason for this headband…I have to keep my hair out of my eyes so I can see the songs. Any suggestions?
Hi Lauren!
For writing in Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed our article on dressing for a formal event. Styling hair is rather straightforward, and you’re on the right track. Here are a Couple of of my ideas:
1. Get a Bedazzled Headband
You already had a fantastic idea. For a formal occasion, I would advise picking a headband that operates with a nicer dress. You do not want to look like you will course or going to the workplace. So buy a headband with a little rhinestone or sequin action to set the tone for your occasion that is formal? You utilize a little curling iron or can straighten your hair it into smaller ringlets.
2. Bobby Pins Are Your Friend
If folks ask me what my favourite beauty item is, I always say palms, pins down. The reason is that they are so flexible and canĀ really hold your hair in place (particularly when blended with a little hairspray). Since your hair is parted on the side, it’s possible to really rock the look that Anne Hathaway has above. Be sure if you look down in your songs so it doesn’t get in your way to secure front swoop with pins.
3. Leave it Wavy and Clip
You mentioned you straighten your hair. Another strategy would be to allow it to air dry, scrunching it with another lotion or mousse as it dries. After parting your hair, have a little bit and twist it back securing it using one of those tiny clips. As long as you can find all your hair out of your face, you will have a look that is sudden and adorable.
I expect that these ideas give a small amount of inspiration to you as you venture into the holiday season. Most celebs are rocking the brief bobs right now, so you are on par with the best of them!
